Bring the Blog to Date

We have been super busy.  Over 200 hours between us the month  of April.
Cutting up fallen trees on trails, super blowing the fire lines  for a prescribed burn. Gil  has worked  on the generator at Dylans. Hopefully a good shot of carburetor cleaner  will finish this job off.

Painted the restroom doors, they sure look better.  Scrubbed the restroom floors  with small scrub brush, pine germ residue left on floors  have made them look very black and nasty.  1/2 cup bleach and water  is all that is needed on these floors.  I have used this and mopped them 2x a week, just now after all my scrubbing  and rinsing  the floors  are beginning to look clean.

Dylan dropped off the fire truck. For us  to paint any removable part with a bright orange stripe.  With it being so dry, I worked fast and furious ( 7.5 hours) to get all painted/marked, just in case they would need the truck for a fire.  I will tell you, that is a lot of stripes to hand paint on small parts.  No, it is not picture perfect nor does it look like a artist painted them, alas  they are marked  and visible from a distance.

We had a Easter get together here at the park. Looked like the visitors  had a great time hiding eggs  and enjoying our clean park.
We also had a large family reunion here. We made sure restrooms was well stocked with supplies, and plenty of garbage cans available.  The family enjoyed the park and let us know how much they appreciated  the extra effort  we put out to make their visit here  easier for them to enjoy.

Daily cleaning  up the park.trails and repairing  what we can repair. Picnic tables all had very loose bolts  and Gil tightened them all up 48 bolts per table  he states.
Buddy  just loves going for a ride on the Gator, some times  he just runs beside it and gets his daily jog in. We are cruising at a whopping 1 mph, so he can do this. He really enjoys the extra time we are spending with him.

Dozer, Dylan's dog  has started visiting us later  in the evening.  He knows to climb up the camper steps and paw at the door, then back off the steps  so I can open it up. He marches in, gets his treat and a quick drink leaves  some slobbery kisses  and off he  goes to explore more of the park.

Stephen Foster Park  had a nice exhibit this past Saturday May 7th.  Several different displays ( forging, quilting, soap making, snakes  and leather working and a small civil war display.

The gator quit running on Woodpecker trail,Gil had to walk to Ranger Gary's and get the Polaris to come get me, so we could tow it back to Ranger Gary's( Little Shoals). We drove over to Stephen Fosters  let Dylan know about the gator  and walked around a little bit  with Buddy, then home to get showers and dinner before the big event  that night.

Saturday night Stephen Foster also  had their monthly coffee house. What a treat.  We really enjoyed that. Several people came to sing and play instruments, read poetry, and enjoy coffee and dessert. What great people to volunteer to entertain so many folks on a Saturday night

Sunday, was Mothers  Day  and we went for a ride over to the Okefenokee Swamp Park, it was closed  due to fires.  SO we drove up to Humbletown and then over to Valdosta.  I really enjoy riding like that, seeing the back country . Going through the little towns/bourghs  and admiring the older homes and the carpentry on them.

Today, we spent playing catch up. I did the restrooms here at Big Shoals while Gil went to the other restrooms( cleavus's) and maintained wood pecker trail and rd one today.  I gave Buddy  his weekly bath  and spent a bit visiting with some wonderful folks from Brunswick,Ga. They knew my cousin  who used to be sheriff over there years ago,

The temperature is steady on the incline today, can feel the heat quick while outside.  I had to come inside and cool down for a while.  Had lunch and a short rest. After our dinner later this evening we will walk Woodpecker Trail and give Buddy a longer time to sniff  around.
